Hi! I'm Laura McQueen, and I'm so happy you are here!

I’m a Nutritional Therapy Practictioner (NTP) specializing in functional sports nutrition, and I am the founder of The Good Repair.

Most days you will find me in workout clothes or bib shorts and cycling cleats, surrounded by foam rollers, tiger tails and MSM recovery lotions. You could say I’m pretty set up for recovery and repair see what I did there?!

I love all things crossfit, lifting heavy sh**, cycling, running, snowboarding, yoga, and meditation. Oh, I also always welcome a little healthy competition.

It was about 9 years ago, during my marathon-running days, that my coaches were consistently recommending sports beans, pretzels, shot blocks, and energy gels as the best way to fuel my running. And sure, I listened and I crossed the finish line, but honestly I felt like sh** and it took me weeks to recover. This didn't feel right and it was not ideal in anyway.

I knew there had to be a better way.

In 2012, I learned about the paleo lifestyle (eating clean, nutrient dense and grain-free foods) and it changed my life. I instantly felt energy, excitement, and life coming back into my activities and workouts. I was blasting through intense WODs and easily powering through any long bike rides. I thought for sure I found my nutrition miracle!

But finding paleo was only part of my journey. Although I was eating clean and healthy, I could tell that something still wasn't dialed in with my nutrition. It turns out I was struggling with insulin resistance, hormone imbalance, adrenal stress, food allergies, heavy metal toxicity, and leaky gut.

If you’re thinking, WOW that’s a big list, you’re damn right!

I was scared, confused, and just wanted to feel like myself again. Most of all I wanted answers, and I wanted a holistic approach to my situation. That’s when I decided to work with a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner to help me uncover the root causes of my health issues so I could begin my healing journey.

It was during this time that I discovered I had a passion for nutrition and helping other athletes, like myself. I wanted to share this passion with others and so I continued my education with the Nutritional Therapy Association  and became a Certified Nutritional Therapy Practitioner.

These days, I use valuable nutritional therapy techniques in my practice and in my daily life to balance stress, improve athletic performance, address food allergies, and regulate my blood sugar. I’ve seen so much progress in my own health and I can’t wait to help you with yours. Working together you are truly going to feel your best!
